Career Pathways
Southern Good Faith Fund’s Career Pathways program is tackling the health care worker shortage crisis. Their health care career pathway prepares individuals for several different careers in the health care field.
Depending on skill level and interest, students can enroll in programs to become nursing assistants, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, LPNs, RNs, respiratory therapists, or radiologic technicians. Upon completion, Southern Good Faith Fund helps graduates find jobs, but also encourages continuing moving up the career ladder by enrolling in other programs along the pathway. Delta Area Health Education Center
In 2005, the Delta Area Health Education Center (AHEC) opened for business in Helena-West Helena, Arkansas. With over 30,000 square feet, this facility provides a wellness center with exercise equipment and exercise classes, a community health library, and health education classrooms. Indoor and outdoor walking tracks are available. The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences will rotate resident physicians and other health care professionals through the facility. The AHEC was a key goal identified by the strategic planning process of the Delta Bridge Project. Over 1,200 Phillips County residents have joined the AHEC’s fitness center.
